Thursday 10/2, 11:45-1pm. Grace Evangelical Church - Wood Hall
Arrive at 11:45am to fellowship and serve lunch. Hard start at 12pm. Hard stop at 1pm.
Marketplace workers make up almost all of every church's membership. Yet, in reality there is only a small percentage of Chrstian's/church members who usually take part in God's mission or even think about it. Most functionally see their church pastors & church staff as the ones who are trained, sent, and expected to engage in missions & the Great Commission because they are the "professionals." That leaves the vast majority of the missionary force in our churches untrained, unsent, and unengaged in the Great Commission. But the Great Commission does not belong only to the full-time ordained Christian workers or church staff. The mission is the responsibility of every follower of Christ. If we believe that to be true, then it must affect our churches, membership, and the way we view our careers & businesses.
Come enjoy a meal, fellowship with other business leaders, and hear from Howard Graham on the topic of "The Church and the Poor." How can we most effectively utitlize our businesses for God's mission in caring for the poor? Howard spent 30 years as an entrepreneur and business leader - most recently as an executive for a global digital agency, Wunderman/WPP. Everywhere Howard serves, he is a catalyst for new growth and transformational change. As a maturing Christian, leader in the faith community, and member of Downtown Church, he is an active participant in a diverse set of ministries across the city that serve the poor.
Hope to see you on October 2nd!
